Although massage therapy affects the body as a whole, it particularly influences the activity of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems. Massage has been practiced as a healing therapy for  centuries in nearly every culture around the world.

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage is a manual therapy that manipulates the soft tissues to soothe, heal, and decrease muscle tension, pain and stress. It has a therapeutic affect and improves overall health by acting directly on the muscular, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic (immune) systems. Massage techniques range from traditional Swedish to pressure point and lymphatic drainage to:

  • release pain
  • reduce swelling and blood pressure
  • enhance respiratory function and  mobility of joints,  and
  • alleviate emotional, physical and mental tension.
